Whoever designed this curling iron did a fantastic job.   They thought of everything.  For one, it has a super long cord (8 feet!), which I love, and it swivels!  This is so important since I usually end up tangled up in the cords when I try to style my hair.  It always feels like the cords are just in the way.  Maybe someday someone will come up with a cordless option, but for now, this is the next best thing.  It also has temperature selection so you can use the right temp for your hair type.  My hair is course and most curling irons don’t get hot enough to curl very well and the curls fall out in a matter of minutes anyway.  I was able to turn up the temp on this one and ended up with perfect curls that lasted all day.  If you have fine or thin hair there is a lower temp option you can use to keep your hair from getting singed.  (Just make sure hair is fully dry before using any heated appliance on it since that will surely singe your hair)  It only takes about 2 minutes to heat up even on the hottest setting so you can get started in no time.

I had never used an auto-rotating barrel curling iron before.   I had never even heard of such a thing actually, so I was intrigued  and just a little intimidated.  I have pretty long hair and I was worried about it getting tangled in the barrel among other things.  That didn’t happen but I did have a few other  issues when I first started.   It took me a few minutes to get used to hitting the “right” or “left” buttons to get it to rotate.  You can’t see the buttons while you’re doing it, so you have to remember which is which and where they are located on the iron.  That was pretty easy to get used to but then I had a few issues with accidentally hitting the buttons while I was just trying to get the ends in and ready to curl.  (They are positioned where my palm kept bumping them.)  I have to admit it felt really awkward when I first started.  A couple of times I ended up hitting the rotate button when I didn’t mean to, and it ended up too close to my scalp because of this and could have led to burns.  You do have to be careful not to let that happen.  Now most of this is probably because I am a total klutz and the fact that I don’t style my hair very often anyway BUT once I got the hang of it,  it was a breeze!

It took me about 5 minutes to get a feel for it and after that I was able to curl my hair faster than I ever have before.   The barrel is large enough that I could do pretty big sections of hair and with the high temp I still got great results.  Normally I have to do small sections and since my hair is thick that took way too much time.  I hardly ever curled my hair because it took so long so I am loving how fast I can do it now.  I absolutely would recommend this curling iron.   Like I said, it takes a few minutes to get the feel of it, but once you do it is amazing how effective it is.  This is a professional quality curling iron and yet it is priced much better than most professional models.   I saw a few that were selling for over $200 that did not have the features this one has.

  1. I have just purchased the Xtava Auto Styler.
I have a medium length Bob.
I’m worried my hair will be too short.
    Any advice?
    Regards, Lorie

I have fairly long hair and haven’t tried it on shorter hair, but I’m sure it will work fine.

I very seldom curl my hair, usually few times a year when going somewhere special and usually just put up in curlers for few hours after shampooing. Plus it is long (to my hinny, lol), silver blend and very thin, plus at 67 years young, no longer perm, etc so is pretty straight. Might consider buying, as the price is not outrageous. Thanks fro these reviews is very much appreciated!!

Thank you! I’m the same way, maybe curl my hair 3 or 4 times a year but now I don’t even mind. I finished my entire head in 10 minutes and the curls didn’t fall right out either.

  3. I love this!! I’ve been burned before with wands when their cords don’t swivel, they get tangled up and have a mind of their own. I NEED this!! I have a ton of hair and with this it should last more than half an hour!!! Thanks!!
