1a    I try to eat healthy and get the recommended fruits & veggies into my meals and I’m always looking for new suggestions on ways to do that.   I saw this Spiral Slicer from Brieftons and thought it might be a way to add some fun to dinner.   It’s funny how you can change the perception of a vegetable just by slicing it differently but it really works, especially for kids.  I’m a huge fan of anything that can make them more interesting and this spiral slicer is great!  Our son was eating his spiraled  carrots by holding them up and lowering the spirals into his mouth,  maybe not the best table manners but still…..he ate them all and had fun doing it!  Sounds like a win win situation  to me!

It has 2 sizes to choose from when slicing.  I love the larger one myself.   It is a great size for turning vegetables into perfect spirals.  The smaller one seemed to shred the veggies really well but they never got long enough to be considered a spiral.   That size would be perfect for making items like hash browns though.  I also like  that the cap has prongs to put into the veggies so it grabs on while you are cutting and keeps your hands off the food.  This is also great to keep your fingers away from the cutting blades.  (I do recommend that you don’t peel the part that you are placing the cap onto though because I found that it got a much better grip when I left some peel there for it to hold onto.)  I like the small size of this slicer too.   It’s only about 5 inches high so it stores easily in a drawer without taking up much space, and it’s perfect for little hands to use too.  Our son gave it a try and he thought it was a lot of fun and super easy.  Now we are just trying to think of new things to use it for.

It took a few times to really get the feel of the slicer but it worked great and after a couple of minutes I was spiraling like a pro. (In the pic above I did the potatoes with the larger slicing end and the carrots with the smaller one.)  Now I just need to kick my imagination into gear so I can think of new things to try it on.   From veggie spaghetti, easy stir fry, to fancy garnishes for the sushi plate, this spiral cutter makes it all child’s play.

The sponsors at Briefton were also kind enough to let me hold a giveaway for one of their Spiral Slicers so now you can have a chance to win one of your own.   You can enter using the Rafflecopter below & good luck!
